November 2015 Newsletter from Data Bubble

This Month’s Newsletter! – November 2015

After a period of “Data Bubble on Tour” exhibitions, this last month has been a little more serene and office based. October was largely spent reflecting on those exhibitions, catching up, making contact and updating our own contact lists in readiness for what lies ahead. We also enjoyed a little R & R with our doggies in Tallulah – our motor home.

As I write this, we’ve enjoyed a fabulous weekend seeing lots of children revelling in Hallowe’en festivities, trick or treating, dancing in the streets and ignoring the decreasing temperatures. Focus has moved quickly to bonfire night and no doubt this weekend will see a similar level of feverish excitement amongst children as they enjoy seeing the night sky lit up with Catherine Wheels, Roman Candles and Rockets. Enjoy one and all…and stay safe x

We hope, as always, that you enjoy this month’s newsletter…. Call Joanne or Steve on 01274 965411

Data Bubble News Updates

Data Bubble – Happy Birthday to Us!

Data Bubble has turned six! That’s right – SIX! I can’t believe it – we’re practically teenagers now!!!

Thank you to all of our clients past, present and future.

Telephone Preference Service – ICO Clamp Down as £200,000 Fine Issued

The ICO has flexed its muscles by recently imposing a huge £200,000 fine against a Welsh lead generation company. Recent changes to the law have allowed the ICO to issue the fine due to breaches of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, after it received over 6,500 complaints from consumers regarding unsolicited text messages relating to PPI, bank refunds etc. This fine represents one of the largest issued by the ICO in recent times – my guess is that you can expect to see more such fines being issued against companies who fail to respect the laws surrounding Data Protection and Data Privacy.

Clever Marketing – A Fine Example

As Christmas approaches (sorry to mention the “C” word!), some begin to speak about Christmas telly – not the films, but more recently the adverts. John Lewis has become the focus of many a tongue wag in recent years, with annual anticipation regarding the forthcoming advertisement seemingly increasing year on year.

This year is no different…well, when I say no different, check this out. An advertisement has been released online for John Lewis…of Hungerford, that is!!! They have cleverly marketed their Christmas advert for kitchens, bedrooms and furniture with their company name matching that of the more famous department store. Have they stolen a march on the store giant? Well, all I can say is well done and I hope that you have a fantastic response!

And finally…

Cycling…of course!!! Huge congratulations to Team GB who have come away from the recent European Track Championships with a fantastic haul of medals. As I type this, they will be entering the UCI Track Cycling World Cup full of hope and with morale at a high.

The 2016 route for the Tour de France has been revealed, so Steve is checking the map for possible visits. Also, the host towns of the second “Tour de Yorkshire” have also been announced and with Otley being one such town, Steve’s already planning the best viewpoint! Let’s hope it comes even closer to home…
Feedback please…We welcome all feedback, good or bad, whether it relates to data supplied, our newsletters or another contact, us individually or as a company. Seriously, the only way we can ever hope to get better is through client feedback, so please keep it coming.
